I officially have less than a month to go … well unless Rabbit decides to stay in past his moving out date! I really have no predictions as to whether he’ll be early, on time or late; I’m just hoping that I don’t have to be induced as it may mean I won’t be able to have my water birth that I’m planning. photo 2-46

It’s been a lovely week so far, I had my changing bag delivered – a stunning handbag like changing bag from Seraphine that I’ll be reviewing this week! I’ve also gotten my hospital starter kit so I almost have everything I need to take for the labour.

On Monday I went for my 36 week midwife appointment. Everything was normal with my blood pressure and we went over my birth plan. I’m going to do a separate  post on this so keep an eye out.

Onto the little man –

Position – SO he’s still being a little pickle and is back to back. My midwife told me that I can continue with the exercises that I was suggested like bouncing on the exercise ball, crawling around like a cat etc but really if he moves now he could just as easily turn back to the back to back position right before labour. It’s almost as if he’s found that comfortable spot and will always go back to it so I wasn’t filled with much confidence.

She said that it would be fine and I wouldn’t need to have a c-section because of it (something I’d be warned by a friend) but it will probably just be a longer and more painful birth – no biggie ay!? This made me feel quit anxious and down which was really frustrating as my natal hypnotherapy practise had been keeping me really positive and relaxed about it all.

Heartbeat and movements – The little wriggler is moving around like nobodies business, he’s even making my stomach go into some really odd shapes! photo 4-24

His heartbeat is really strong, it’s been easier to find it the last couple of times for this particular midwife – he must really like her!

He’s as big as a … honeydew melon! How blooming huge does that sound? He’s still in the 17.2-18.7 inches and 4.2-5.8 pounds range but to me melon just sounds massive.

If he was born today … he’d probably be able to breathe on his own. Most of his organs and systems would be working fine such as his liver and kidneys.

As for muma …

Bump size – My bump is 35.5 cm which is great for 36 weeks. He’s still pretty neat and I think looking a little bit lower than before.

Weight gain – I haven’t weighed myself for a while but looks wise I haven’t put on any weight except for my bump. I’m feeling really grateful that I haven’t gotten swollen ankles or anything yet as I can imagine that would be really uncomfortable. I keep saying it’s not too late and I may balloon out in the next couple of weeks but I’m secretly hoping I won’t! The less I put on now the easier it’ll be to get back to my bikini body and with a holiday in Greece booked for October I’ll be getting straight onto that!

Stretch marks – I haven’t got any stretch marks yet. I have a small scar where my belly bar used to be which I think may stay once the bump has gone.

Sleep – My restless legs are back with a vengeance! I’ve also had a lot on my mind since my midwifes appointment so I haven’t been able to get off to sleep as easily.

All in all it’s been a good week. I’m getting there with my to do list, intact I’m going to put it on here now and see how much I’ve gotten done by my 37 week bumpdate post:

  • Cot mattress
  • Cot mobile
  • Cot bumper
  • Cot sheets (I have one but need spares)
  • Baby bath
  • Steriliser
  • Clear Pete’s office
  • Set up Rhys’s room
  • Pack hospital bag
  • Set up cot

Let’s see how well I do by next week!
