Sponsored by Channel Mum

A short while after Jaspy was born I decided to start myself a Youtube channel. I took so many videos of his adorable cuteness and hilarious facial expressions that I thought why not share them with my blog followers. A picture can say a thousand words but a funny video of a baby blowing bubbles … well that just speaks volumes!

With than in mind; teamed with my already open book life over on my blog and love for chatting to myself; the Lilypod and Sweetpea Youtube channel was born!

It’s taken a while (in fact I’m still not there) to find my voice, filming style, confidence etc to film but as so many mummy vloggers told me to do – I just went for it! Sure I don’t get a heap of views or comments but the small following I do have means the absolute world to me. It’s really boosted me to film more and be so much more open and natural in my videos.

Well I’ve just been given the opportunity to *hopefully* make my little channel grow into something *potentially* pretty awesome! I’m so so pleased to announce that Lilypod and Sweetpea channel has been given a sponsorship contract with Channel Mum *does a little jig*

Founded by Siobhan Freegard (yep the same Siobhan Freegard who founded the UK’s biggest parenting Website Netmums), Channel Mum is the UK’s first Youtube Network for mums. It’s all about the honest face of parenting; given viewers an insight from real mums and offering those mums the chance to share their words with the world wide web!

Channel Mum announced a little while back that they’d be offering 100 mums the chance to be Channel Mum vlogger talent. From hundreds of applications they chose 9 channels to kick start and Lilypod and Sweetpea was one of them! I was absolutely amazed and felt so emotional when I found out! This just showed me that what I’ve been doing is working and has a little spark of potential that has thankfully caught the right peoples eyes!

As part of the program we work with Channel Mum on honest content that relates to us. Nothing will be changing on Lilypod and Sweetpea other than hopefully some fab new opportunities, exposure and growth! The channel is still mine, it’s still me and the creativity is still in my hands I simply have a professional and experienced community to push me to my goals!

As part of the contract we also get:

  • £500 worth of starter equipment, including the new Panasonic HC-W570EB-K camcorder, tripod, lighting and editing software
  • £200 per month cash to pay for the time you invest in your channel and / or for you to spend on creating or promoting your content
  • Ongoing support, mentoring & advice from our Channel Mum team: getting the basics right, content ideas, technical support, growing your audience, monetising your content
  • Access to our members-only vlogger forum, to learn from and share with other vloggers in our community

Like I said they’ll be taking on more mumas throughout 2015 … 91 more to be exact! You don’t have to have a channel already, you may have never filmed a video in your life and that’s absolutely fine! Channel Mum are looking for personalities that shine, natural applicants that have some great ideas for their potential channel. If you want to join the community then check out what you have to do here – Channel Mum … fingers crossed you’ll join me at Channel Mum!

Wish me luck guys … onto new and exciting things!!

Jess your blog is one of the reasons I started mine as I wanted to document my journey as a mummy. I love your videos and wanted to say many congratulations for being selected! I know you’re going to continue being successful and I’m sure your boys are very proud of you. Lots of love from me and the little toddler indoors! xx

I am not surprised one bit that you have been chosen! I watch a lot of Vlogs and find some of them too perfect and even though I’ve watched a 20 min video I still don’t know the ‘real’ them. I love the relaxed honesty in yours, I like the fact you are a bit shy because it means your videos feel so real. When I have watched one I feel like I’ve had a cuppa with a fellow mum who is going through all the things we all go through as mums! Can’t wait to see where your channel goes with your new sponsorship. Wishing you lots of luck and I look forward to watching! Congratulations 🙂 x

This is such a lovely comment thank you so much. I used to hate my videos that I said ‘umm’ in too much or was a bit shy but now I love them (even if a bit cringe haha). The ones I watch the most are the ones where mums swear and fumble their words.

      Thanks so much xx
