Wow, only one more week and it’ll be your first birthday, how quickly the time has flown since me and Daddy moved home πŸ™‚

I’ve now known you for half of your life and you’ve become one of the biggest parts of mine!Β

Now we already know that you’re a little bit of a boy genius from my last post at 10 months and I’m not sure how much more I can impress people with your development, but here it goes!

Making moves

You’ve been walking for a while now but you are so very close to running. When you see something that you want you go for it, and you’re so sturdy on your feet that you can even stop, pivot and change direction in the blink of an eye!

You’ve also learnt the lovely habit of pointing to what you want, whether it’s Daddy, Dino, your bottle or my phone! You know what you want and you make it very clear to us.

As most little boys of your age are interested in trains, cars and general mess making, you Rhys love to clean! Whether it’s the mop, the hoover or a wet wipe, you love nothing more than helping me out with the housework! (Perfect for my mega nesting mode I’m currently going through).rhys cleaning

You’ll be getting your very own cleaning kit from Grandma and Granddad Thornton for your birthday so lets hope this phase sticks!

That’s not to say that you don’t like making a mess too though. Another habit of yours that I’d love to go soon is tipping your bottle of milk on the floor and rubbing it in … joy!

Daddy’s boy

When you’re here, you are without a doubt a Daddy’s boy! As soon as he comes home from work I turn invisible and you don’t want to leave his side.

Just remember that you’re still my little buddy!photo-34

You’ve always been really good at sleeping through the night! Sometimes we even get a 7-7 out of you (for this we thank you!)

When you wake up in the morning you stand up at the side of the cot and talk away. Sometimes we watch you for ages while you gable away, talking to your teddies and Β looking around your room.

Occasionally you’ll wake up in the night and it always makes me giggle to watch you quickly lie back down and pretend to be asleep when I walk into the room. All it takes is a quick belly rub and you’re back off till the morning πŸ™‚

I used to always rock you to sleep, while wearing my pink dressing gown – then I’d have to very gently put you in your cot. This has gotten a little tricky now that my bump is so big, even when I’m sat on the nursing chair so I’m really proud of you for starting to go off in your cot by yourself! You still get belly rubs and the odd lullaby (sorry).

Sometimes I do feel like a cuddle though, so if my bumps not to uncomfy, you still get the occasional rock to sleep πŸ™‚

You’ve become so confident. You’re now recognising members of my side of the family and going to them without even looking back for me and Daddy!

You love playing with your new cousins Reecey and Sienna and they certainly love playing with ‘Baby Rhys’.

Not to mention you love Grandma cuddles!

You love exploring. Every little detail is so interesting to you. From a spec of fluff on the carpet to the bubbles in washing up liquid.

We love watching you learn new things – colouring seems to be one of your faves at the moment!
