This weekend I was so lucky to have the most lovely baby shower surrounded by all of the lovely ladies in my life. It was planned by my mum and my best friend Paige and they really did such a fantastic job of welcoming little Rabbit to the world!
The shower was held at my mum and dads house on Sunday afternoon and my mum and sister spent all morning prepping party food and decorations to make it look just perfect!
There was a really amazing turnout with 23 ladies including myself, 1 little lady – Pete’s niece Macey, and 2 very mini ladies – Paige and Marti’s baby girls Halle and Nevaeh.
There was a mixture of family from both mine and Petes sides, and then friends from school, college, uni and more!
I was so grateful that everyone had made such an effort to come as some of the ladies travelled from as far as Somerset and London – all to celebrate the upcoming arrival of little Rabbit 🙂
It was also the first time that my mum and Petes mum had met so that was really lovely for them both 🙂
The shower went on for a few hours and was the typical games, food, presents and girly chat which was just perfect! I took so many pictures that I’ve had to put them into collages otherwise they’d make this post a tad too large!
Here are just some of the decorations from the kitchen, living room and front door. Luckily enough we had some baby boy bits left over from when me and my mum hosted Paige’s baby shower over 4 years ago! (shows how long we keep things haha) and then mum went and got more lovely bits to add to it all.
I’m really annoyed that I didn’t get a picture of all the lovely food before everyone tucked in as the spread looked incredible! There was a mixture of hot and cold party food including spring rolls, sandwiches, crisps, prawns and lots more that I can’t remember!
Here are my some snaps of my favourites that I managed to photograph before they got eaten!
I didn’t actually eat one of the cupcakes but I loved the cupcake stand. They always make the presentation that extra bit special!
The cake was really the piece de resistance! Paige’s very talented muma Hayley made it herself. She even cut out the teddybears, trains, buttons and ducks herself which were so detailed! The cake looked fab and tasted delicious!
What baby shower for little Rabbit would be complete without some form of rabbit shaped food. Mum managed to get hold of a rabbit food cutter and made little rabbit sandwiches – too cute!
Paige organised some really fun games which I think are great for occasions like this when there are lots of people and especially when the people don’t all know each other.
The first game we played was ‘The Baby Name Game’. Everyone was given a letter of the alphabet and we had to see who could come up with as many baby names beginning with that letter! I got ‘N’ and only managed about 6, but I was busy being the pregnant lady so it’s ok. My niece Macey won with 2 sides of paper full for the letter ‘M’. Admittedly Mr and Mrs were included but being 7 we decided that didn’t class as cheating lol
The next game was ‘The Penny Game’. There are a lot of variations to this one, you might be familiar with the traditional seeing how many pennies you can hold in your bum crack while racing your opponent to a pot to drop the pennies in without dropping any on the way. This way was a little more ladylike with a balloon under your top and a penny between your knees. As you can see the ladies took it very seriously!
The third game we played was ‘Baby food tasting’. Four lucky ladies got to taste 5 different unlabelled baby food jars to se who could name the meals correctly. I can’t remember what any of them were (luckily I got to choose the challengers and didn’t have to take part!) but I do remember that number 3 was not a hit!!
The final game that we played was ‘Pin the Sperm on the Egg’ – yes it really is what it sounds like. Much the same as Pin the tail on the donkey, the aim is the stick the sperm on or as close to the egg as possible while blindfolded. I don’t know if you can see from the photo but the diagram of my womb is very well drawn by Paige’s sister Kirby!
The final stage of the baby shower was the part that I felt the most nervous about – the presents. Now I love presents as much as the next person, but sitting in a room full of people while just you opens gifts is kind of daunting – especially when there were A LOT of gifts to open. With other 20 ladies, Rabbit was thoroughly spoilt with hampers full of outfits, toiletries and toys – he really is such a loved little boy already. It took me hours the next day to organise everything in his nursery and I can safely say we now have ALMOST everything ready for little man!
Here are a few pics of me opening some of my gorgeous gifts … the batman vest has a detachable cape – how cute is that!?
One really special gift that I received was this ‘Words of Wisdom’ book that my mum made. She asked everyone to write me a message for motherhood and it was truly lovely to read everyones advice, well wishes and support <3
It really was the most amazing baby shower and really showed me just how loved me and Rabbit are. Everyone made such a fantastic effort and I couldn’t have asked for a better day to celebrate my little boys upcoming arrival.
Thank you to all the lovely ladies in Rabbit’s life, now to wait for him to arrive so you can all meet him!
Thanks of reading 🙂
