Nuna Leaf Review

The first couple of weeks of baby bears life he spent either in our arms or in his crib and although he occasionally self-settled we soon realised that he really enjoyed being held in our arms and gently swayed from side to side. It didn’t always drift him off to sleep but it calmed him if he got a bit fractious and saved my boobs from painful comfort feeding!

We decided it was time to find him a baby bouncer/chair/swing – something that could imitate that swaying movement and although we had a couple of chairs left over from Jasper we wanted to go for something a bit simpler and more stylish to blend into our home.

This is where Nuna comes in; a company with strong Dutch roots, Nuna believe that baby products should take some of the work out of being new parents by creating smart baby gear that is simple, stylish and beautiful. The Nuna values are clear – less is more and that’s why they leave out all of the unnecessary parts to their products creating sleek and smartly engineered versions of themselves.

“The more we take out of our products, the more you get out of them”
Introducing the Nuna Leaf – a baby seat named and inspired by a carefree float of a leaf on a breeze – sounds like heaven right? Watching baby boy in his right now certainly looks like a slice of heaven and oh my for me to be hands-free, able to drink a hot coffee and write a blog post while he drifts off into a mesmerising slumber – what else could you want?DSC09989

The Nuna LEAF has the most stunningly simple design; shaped beautifully like a leaf it comes in five different colours all plain and neutral to suit any home. We opted for the Bleu Marin Navy and I’m so happy with our choice!

The insert is made from organic cotton which is super soft and breathable and keeps your baby cool; and the seat itself is made from certified Oeko-Tex fabric – both of which are machine washable and wipe clean – perfect for a sicky baby or poop explosion!DSC09985DSC09980DSC09974
The harness is supportive secure and with velcro fastenings it’s super easy to pop bambino in, take him out and adjust the fit.

The base is on the heavier side so although not the easiest to move around, it is so sturdy and reassuring to know that it isn’t going to topple over – major peace of mind with a toddler running around!  Speaking of toddlers, another wonderful bonus of the Nuna LEAF is that it can hold up to 130lbs so will do perfectly for your toddler to relax in after a tiring session of train track building and the hokey-kokey!

The base has a lock switch, so with one push of a button the chair can be locked into position – perfect for dressing, feeding or just a child that prefers to be still.

The chair by itself doesn’t require any batteries or to be plugged in; it simply needs a little push and it will sway by itself for up to 3 minutes. This is a massive bonus however if you’d rather a continuous sway you can buy the additional Nuna LEAF wind accessory.

With 6 speed settings the wind auto sways the chair. It’s sleek looking, slots onto the base of the LEAF with ease and has an integrated one touch sensor control panel to make it super easy to use. The wind can be plugged into a plug socket or ran via USB with use of your own battery pack.

Setting up the Nuna LEAF couldn’t be easier. It comes in two pieces – the seat and the base which simply need to be slotted together. If you purchase the wind then that again, simply slots on – easy peasy!

At £160, the Nuna LEAF is certainly on the higher end of the price scale but the style, quality and functionality reflects this well. If you purchase the additional wind accessory that costs £70 so it is definitely an investment but you can’t put a price on a soothed baby and hands-free muma right?

Another fab accessory that turns the LEAF into a stimulating playzone is the Nuna LEAF toy bar (£20) which attaches with ease onto the seat. It’s available in 3 different colours and has 3 hanging soft toys – a birdy, rattle tree and owl.

Our thoughts – Baby Bear is instantly soothed when put in the Nuna LEAF. It’s simple to set up and use and works amazingly with the wind accessory. It blends perfectly into our home not comprimising our sense of style.

Nuna is definitely a brand to check out; if not for a seat then for their stunning travel systems, car seats, highchairs and playards. They’re available online at and from a number of UK retailers including John Lewis, Mothercare and Kiddicare.

Have you got anything Nuna?

I have been eyeing this up for a while but waiting for baby to arrive to see if we need it. Good to know it has a power cord though, such a forgotten feature when it comes to swings etc.
