Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus Review

One of the first pieces of equipment that you’ll use with your new baby is a carseat; if you’re giving birth at a hospital then it’ll likely be the very first thing you use aside from clothes and nappies of course. Not only that but it’s something you’ll be using daily for years to come, so it’s definitely an item that’s worth the research and investment.

With both Jasper and Rhys we opted for Maxi-Cosi carseats. They were the first and only brand that came to mind; even though neither of us had any experience with them, they were, as new parents, the obvious choice for us. Of course the seats lived up to their names, being not only stylish and practical but most importantly – safe. Having peace of mind on the road while your little one is in the back and out of your reach is imperative when driving, no matter the distance; that’s why this time around, going for another Maxi-Cosi was a no brainer and we were really fortunate to be sent the Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus for the purpose of an honest review.

The Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus (RRP £190) is suitable from birth -12 months or 75cm in length (whichever comes first) and comes in seven different colours – we opted for Concrete Grey. It’s i-Size certified meaning it reaches the increased standard of safety for child car seats.  Here’s a little info on what i-Size really means:isize-regulation

The beauty of it is – there is none! All you need to do is open the box and take it out, it’s as simple as that. The carseat is ready to go, simply pop baby in and adjust the straps to fit them – voila!

Key features

The seat

The seat has a 3 point safety harness with a single button release which makes it super easy to get your baby in and out. DSC00061DSC00062Not only that but the harness has an innovative ‘easy in’ function meaning that the straps move themselves out of the way once released; making putting your child in and out even easier! This is perfect if your child is sleeping or your hands are full and you don’t want to faff about moving the straps.DSC00039 DSC00040

The safety harness and headrest adjust simultaneously allowing for bambino to be extra comfortable and the safety harness is easily adjusted from the back of the seat.DSC00047

The seat unit is already super soft but the baby-hugg inlay makes it that extra bit like floating on a cloud. Not only does this give optimum cosiness and lying position for a newborn but it acts as an extra layer of protection for your little one alongside the impact-absorbing material at the top side wings. The inlay is also reversible so you get a bit of a change to the look of it; and it’s removable for when your bambino gets a little too snug in there.DSC00041 DSC00042

The seat cover is easy to remove when you want to clean it and what’s fab is that it’s machine washable! You also don’t need to remove the harness before washing ( I can see this bambinos seat being kept a lot cleaner than his brothers were!).

The handle

The handle has 3 adjustable levels which are changed by simply pressing down the grey buttons on either side of the handle and moving it to it’s desired position. DSC00030

The three positions are: Up and over for carrying and when in the car, level with the carseat which is perfect for rocking bambino to sleep and fully down on the floor which supports the car seat stationary – this is fab for feeding!DSC00043DSC00044DSC00045
It also has two small discrete hooks at the top for the sun canopy loops to be easily attached to. The sun canopy is hidden beneath a rubber covering at the head of the seat and where the loops are made from rubber they stay put and don’t risk slipping off!

On the go

Pushchair – Taking the carseat off a pushchair chassis couldn’t be simpler as although there is a button either side of the car seat, you only actually need to press one of them to release it due to it’s memory button functionality – fab for a mum on the go!

Car – There are two ways to install the car sear into your car; via 3 point seat belt or as recommended by Maxi-Cosi, the 2WayFix Base (£190). If you opt for the Maxi-Cosi 2WayFix Base, your mind can be put at ease as it has been tested to the same safety standards as the car seat itself. It is installed via ISOfix points built into your car (check your car has these before purchasing) and has light and sound signals to let you know that you have installed not only the base but the seat correctly; plus a click and go system making it super easy to get the seat in and out.

If your car isn’t ISOfix ready, or you simply prefer to use a seat belt then Maxi-Cosi have made it even simpler for you by creating an amazing belt system which means that if the seat belt is placed in the wrong way around, the car seat belts will not hold in position.

Additional accessories are available for the Maxi-Cosi Pebble plus:

Rain cover – Transparent and wipe clean to keep your bambino dry on that car to house dash!

Foot muff – Available in six different colours, the fleece lined foot muff is padded for extra comfort and has a drawstring hood to keep out any draughts.

Summer cover – Available in three colours, the Summer cover is made from soft, absorbent terry towelling material to trap perspiration quickly

Our thoughts

We absolutely love this carseat, it’s easy to use, stylish and super secure. Arlo looks amazingly comfy in it and I feel at ease that he is the safest he can possibly be when travelling.
