Not just your typical changing bag

I’ve probably found choosing a changing bag to be the most difficult task throughout my pregnancy! That may sound a bit dramatic, ok it’s been the most difficult purchase choice to make!

At first I looked at the ever popular Cath Kidston bags and also the Pink Lining selection and I really loved how cute and yummy mummy-ish they were. However after a lot of thinking I realised that really I don’t want a typical changing bag style.

I’m going to be carrying this bag around with me everyday for a long time and to make things easier on me I’ll be carrying my own essentials in it too, so there will be times when I’m carrying the bag without Rabbit being with me. Because of this, I want the bag to look more like a handbag, something that I’d want to carry around with me all the time anyway and that will suit my taste and style.

I got on the hunt for handbag style changing bags and fell in love with pretty much every one from the Seraphine collection. I was so grateful and excited when they offered to send me and Rabbit a bag of my choice from their SS14 collection!

Seraphine are the go-to brand for pregnant women seeking stylish, high quality maternity fashion. They dress the bumps of some of the most glamorous mumas and mums to be in Hollywood including Jessica Alba, Angelina Jolie and even the Dutch of Cambridge!

The selection of changing bags are mid range in terms of price, varying from £69- £140 which is really representative of the high quality of the bags. I would say that these are investment pieces. Unless you have a lot of money to spend, you’re more likely to want to invest in the one perfect bag that will last you through all of your changing bag needs.

Going for a cheaper brand of bag is absolutely fine, but you’re more likely to lose out on quality and durability and will end up needing to purchase more than one bag over time.

So, after much deliberation, I decided on the Navy Seraphine Tote Baby Changing Bag which retails at £75… look how beautiful it is!Seraphine bag

The bag is completely waterproof made in wipe clean faux leather. I love the colour as navy seems to go with everything doesn’t it? It’s dark enough to stay looking fresh and clean while still having a splash of colour for my Spring and Summer wardrobe!

It has two really sturdy handles with an attached stroller strap & detatchable adjustable shoulder strap. The bag itself it’s a fab size, which means that I can probably fit mine, Rabbit’s and Rhys’s stuff in all at the same time!

I initially planned to have a smaller separate one for Rhys as now he needs less but I think it would be easier to keep all of our stuff together.

There is a stylish gold statement zip at the base of the bag which not only looks fab but provides extra storage, perfect for the included changing bag! This also mean that I could keep Rabbit and Rhys’s nappies separately so theres no confusion!

I love the brushed gold hardware which adds a real touch of style and elegance to the bag. The fastenings are all really sturdy and look as though they’ll last well, even with a heavy load of contents!

On the inside of the bag there are two roomy zip pockets plus a storage compartment in-between these two. This would be great to store smaller items that would otherwise get lost in the main part of the bag. This like teethers, medicine, hand sanitizer would fit perfectly.

In the main compartment I would keep clothes, muslins, wipes and nappies plus probably my purse.

There are also two smaller pockets which are perfect for small muma accessories like keys, phones and make-up!Seraphine pockets
The inside is made in a pale gold spill-proof lining which is perfect for keeping all of muma and babies items safe. The fact that it’s lighter in colour doesn’t worry me as it is wipe clean so should hopefully stay nice and clean!

I really love this bag and with it’s simple yet elegant style, and versatile colour it is something that will go with every outfit or mine and Rabbit’s plus it will look lovely on the Bugaboo!

There is plenty of storage and for an organiser like me the many compartments are like a dream!

Where the straps, hardware and zips are so sturdy I feel like the bag will be very safe and secure as well as durable for all of mine and the boys future adventures!

That really is a lovely bag! I didn’t want something typical either, so my Mum made me a gorgeous quilted one, which is waterproof AND machine washable! But its definitely a nappy/changing bag. I love that the Seraphine ones looks like stylish handbags!
