|| WINNER ANNOUNCED || My Huggies Little Swimmer* – Tops tips and a fab giveaway

As soon as I had Jasper I knew I wanted him to get into swimming as early as possible. I have such fond memories of swimming when I was younger, both lessons and on holidays and I knew I wanted it to be a big part of Jaspers childhood. Of course it will be wonderful for him to grow up and still want to swim regularly as an adult but while it’s up to me to plan his schedule, I’ll be incorporating swimming into his weekly routine as much as possible.

Jasper absolutely loves being in the water, bath time is crazy fun but pool time is something else! We started taking him when he was about 6 months old and apart from the odd wobble, usually when he’s had too long of a break between going, he just takes to it … like a duck to water!

Swimming is so fantastic for babies and children alike, there are so many benefits aside from it being a healthy sport. Swimming builds confidence, it teaches discipline, survival skills and team work. Jasper’s learnt so many songs and routines from his swimming lessons that it’s not only a lesson its a fun, playful experience for him.

It also has wonderful benefits for parents; Olympic Swimming Champion and Huggies Little Swimmers Brand Ambassador Rebecca Adlington is a new mum to her gorgeous girl Summer and is already taking her swimming. She’s so passionate to emphasise that swimming is also so beneficial for parents. Not only can it help us Mums get back to our post baby figures but it’s one of the few activities we can do with our babies that we can both enjoy together. It’s not only a fab bonding experience but empowering for new mums to get back into the water.

Of course there are worries when taking your bambino to the pool; when I first started I constantly worried he may take in too much water or I may slip in the pool and drop him but the more I’ve gone not only has Jaspers confidence grown but mine has too. I also worried about something that I’m sure every mum has panicked about at one point – leaky nappies! Well after a good course of swimming sessions using the Huggies little swimmers and with no leaks what so ever; my mind was at ease and I felt reassured that there would be no quick evacuations on Japser’s behalf!

Huggies Little Swimmers are the UK’s number one swim pant brand and are expertly designed to contain any little incidents that bambino may have while swimming. The pants don’t expand in the water and have stretchy sides making them so comfortable for little ones to wriggle and splash about! They also have super fun graphics on the front making them exciting for kids to wear, Jasper can now say ‘fish’ and boy do we hear it a lot! They’re so easy to pull on and then tear the sides off for quick and easy changing – no-one wants to faff about trying to pull off a cold wet nappy after a swimming session!

If you’re ready to take to the water, here are 10 top tips from baby swim expert and fellow Huggies ambassador Laura Sevenus:

1- Have fun! If you’re confident and enjoy yourself baby will too!

2 – Get in the pool as soon as you can. Babies have a natural affinity to water, most likely from their development in the womb. Reintroduce them to their watery surroundings as soon as possible.

3 – Plan aheadPlan ahead and be prepared to avoid the ‘hassle factor’

4 – Make the most of bath timeIt’s a fab time to get baby used to being in the water!

5 – It’s a family affair Going swimming as a family is a fab way to bond together – plus men tend to stand taller in the water and have better balance which can help babies feel more relaxed in daddies arms!

6 – Make a date with other mumsMorale support is always a plus!

7 – Get the paddling pool outWonderfully entertaining and a fab way to play and explore!

8 – Make it a habitVery few things are as affordable and enjoyable as swimming, go often!

9 – Avoid peak timesTo start with it’ll be more relaxing and less scary if the pool is quieter.

10 – and relax …Resting their head on the water with their ears slightly submerged give them a similar sensation to being in the womb, how relaxing for them and for you to see.

I worry about the changing to be honest, its tricky trying to get dressed when your toddler is unlocking the cubicle door, exposing you and running away dont wet tiles.

Like my brother did when he was 4 – jumping in head first is a thing with every little person in our family. It makes for a exciting/terrifying time 🙂
