I was in nesting mode yesterday and decided to sort through the kitchen cupboards. Not like Rabbit will be rummaging through them but I wanted everything to be clear and clutter-free for his arrival! Anyway I came across a cute little heart shaped silicon egg mould (I’m sure theres a better name for it!) that I bought from either Amazon or maybe ASOS months ago and have never gotten round to using it!

I didn’t fancy egg for breakfast this morning, I really wanted oatmeal so I thought I’d take a whirl at making a heart shaped oatmeal type of thing!

 

Here’s how:

So start by mixing up your usual amount of oats and milk and then add a little bit of honey or maple syrup to make it hold together. You could also add some raisins and a sprinkle of cinnamon for a little extra flavour.

Heat the mixture how you normally would, either in the microwave or on the hob to cook the oats.

Pop the heart mould in the pan, and add some oil (you only need to put it inside the mould). Heat it up on a low heat and then pour in the oatmeal mixture.

1017548_10151971450072804_1880779938_nYou only need to leave it in there for a couple of minutes to let the mixture set into the lovely heart shape.  Test whether it’s set by lifting the mould a little, if it doesn’t look set then keep it on the heat for a little longer.

When it’s ready simply remove the heart shaped mould and use a spatula to transfer it onto a plate!
