Graco SnugRide I-Size Carseat Review*

You guys will know that we are part of the Generation Graco Brand Ambassadors team and a huge part of that role, aside from attending fab events and getting exciting product sneak peeks, is being able to review some of the awesome products that Graco has to offer. I really do love reviewing products; reading a product description is okay but hearing what a real mum thinks of a product that they’ve tried and tested is honestly the best way to get an honest insight into not only the features of a product but how they stand the test of parenthood.

When I do a review I don’t just pop my baby into the carseat and take a few snaps, I use it for at least a week; I carry it around the house, try it in all of it’s available positions and with all of the available attachments; I put it through it’s paces and that is exactly what I’ve been doing with the Graco SnugRide I-Size carseat. This baby has gone through long car journeys, short car journeys, in and out of the car for the preschool run, into the house to accommodate a sleeping babe and it even went through the ultimate test – a sick baby! So, let’s see how it got on!

What is it?

The SnugRide I-Size is an infant car seat that provides rear facing protection from birth to 18 months or 13kg whichever one comes first. It’s available in a sleek Midnight Black and retails for £324.99.

i-Size compliant – the carseat is compliant to the new carseat regulation

7-position adjustable base – This is the first carseat that we’ve used for any of our boys that has so many reclining positions. With one press of a button you can pull the seat (with bambino in it) into the optimum position for them, this is key for growing babes giving them extra leg room and ultimate comfort! DSC05463DSC05462

5 point harness  providing 5 points of contact, one over each shoulder, one on each side of the pelvis and one between the legs for the best protection.DSC05565

No re-thread harness – This probably has to be my favourite feature; hell hath no fury like a mum trying to re-thread a harness her baby has suddenly outgrown so being able to adjust it, with your little one sat in it, by simply squeezing a button and pulling it to the desired heigh is a real game changer! The head rest and harness adjust simultaneously meaning your child has the most comfortable and safe position and you have zero fiddling with straps!DSC05465

Click connect technology – the carseat connects to any Graco click connect pushchairs with one simply click! This is perfect if you have a Graco travel system!

Machine washable – Another wonderful feature which we tried and tested the very first day that we used it! Jenson was sick on his first trip out in the SnugRide (talk about christening it), and being able to remove everything including the seat cover and shoulder strap covers meant that it looked as good as new in no time!

Isofix base – Once you go Isofix you never go back. If your car is Isofix ready then using the Isofix base makes getting your child in and out of the car so much quicker and easier. The base stays in the car and is secured by two connector prongs and then the carseat is simply clicked onto the base and pulled off with one squeeze of a button. It is also of course the safest option but if you don’t have an Isofix ready car don’t worry because the carseat can also be used with the standard three point seat belt – this is a great option if your little one is heading off to the grandparents and you don’t want to take the Isofix base out of your car!DSC05467DSC05468

Slide out foot rest – perfect for keeping muddy footprints off your car seat!

Removable newborn body support and memory foam inserts – these offer added cushioning and support for your little one and can be removed when the seat becomes too snug.

Sun canopy –  Although this is a standard feature on carseats what I love about this one in particular is that it is rigid and doesn’t need to be attached to the carry handle to stay up.DSC05564

Adjustable handle – The handle has 4 positions, upright for carrying, inline with the top of the carseat for when the vehicle is traveling, horizontal for out of the way convenience and down touching the ground for when the carseat is on the floor – this is fab to keep it from rocking.DSC05582

Set up

The setup was as simple as taking the carseat out of the box – there was so attaching the cover or threading the harness, it was all ready to go! Installing the Isofix base was the only for of setup and it was a 30 second job of pushing the connector prongs into the Isofix car points and positioning the stand at the right height and angle.

The SnugRide I-Size has been rigorously tested to meet or exceed the latest UNECE-Reg.129 and BS-EN-12790

Deep side wings for increased side impact protection

Isofix base – as mentioned previously this is the safest option for car installation

EPP, energy absorbing foam for effective impact energy management

Ease of use

As far as car seats go this is a really easy one to use. The harness is quick and simple to adjust, it’s easy to put Jenson in and out of it and do the harness up and putting him on and off the Isofix base is as simple as a squeeze of a button.

No re-thread adjustable headrest and harness

Machine washable

Stay-up sun canopy

This isn’t a con but more of a suggestion; although the Isofix base has green indicators to show that the seat and base are installed correctly, it would be great to have a sound indicator too!

Weight – 12.3kg

Height – 72cm

Width – 35cm

Length – 54cm

We’re loving the Graco SnugRide I-Size and would definitely recommend it as a great all round carseat that ticks all of the boxes in terms of safety, ease of use and style!
