Well hello August, I didn’t quite recognise you there with the terrible weather we’ve been having! Seriously guys, what is with all of this rain and cold? Summer to me is all about getting outdoors; we like to get out whatever the weather but there’s something wonderful about the sun shining and feeling the breeze against your skin so when we had a surprise day of sunshine this week me and the boys headed out with some friends for a day of family fun at the park! We packed lunches, put on our suncream and loaded the car with lots of fun activities to keep us busy … and wear the boys out for bedtime of course!

This Summer Sun-Pat (yep the peanut butter guys) are hosting a fab giveaway with the aim to get families out, about and active. They’re offering families the chance to win one of 420 sports kits which we were lucky enough to try out first hand!

The kits contain a football, skipping rope and cricket set and aside from the kiddies using the cricket bat to hit the football, I was really impressed with their abilities! I always assume that Jasper is too young to do things, it’s probably my inability to let go of the fact that he’s not a baby anymore, but for the most part he knew exactly what to do with the skipping rope and him and his little friend Sienna had a blast!

We had a really good run around with the football and it’s actually inspired me to sign Jasper up for toddler football next term as he’s finally gotten past that super cute toddler stage of tripping over the ball at every attempted kick! He still does his concentration face of poking his tongue out and scrunching up his nose though!

Jenson even got in on the action chasing after the ball and chewing on the skipping rope – it’s a start right!?DSC05108 DSC05117 DSC05118 DSC05121

… and of course what family fun day would complete without a good old game of cricket? I don’t actually know the rules of cricket but it was really fun trying to teach the kids to hit the ball and it’s made me want to try different sports with the boys for sure!DSC05123

Sun-Pat are also offering a free activity guide containing 42 cheap or free activities to do with kids over the Summer so if you’re already stuck in that Summer holiday rut – definitely check it out, it’s one activity for each day of the holidays and is sure to keep that boredom at bay!

To enter the competition simply follow this link and don’t forget to share some pictures of your kids using the sports kit using the hashtag # to inspire others!
