DIY bookshelf – Wishing Well Grey Dulux paint

In a previous post I mentioned that me and Pete … well just Pete, found this really awesome treasure trove of furniture called Hampshire Vintage Chic. It’s full of shabby chic, antique and bespoke pieces to take as they are or to have made up to your tastes.

When he told me about it I couldn’t wait to get down there and find some treasures. Our first project that we worked on was a small pine bookshelf. I did take a before picture but it was on Pete’s phone and he lost all of his pictures – mega annoying! But it was very plain and boring with filler patches on the sides and sanding marks. It was definitely a doer-upper!

Now I’ll be honest; we argued about this. I love quirky and unique and to me it was just a bit plain Jane. Me and Pete are usually so in-sync with our tastes; we were looking at boat shaped bookshelves and cool telephone tables and when he said he’d go and get some surprises and came back with this I have to say I gave him a bit of a hard time.

I do feel bad now that  I was pretty mean and even told him I’d set Rhys on it with his sticky fingers or accidentally knock it over! Haha

Now that’s he’s sanded and painted it though I actually kind of love it.

Pete used the colour ‘Wishing Well Grey’ from Dulux. We have it in our hallway too and I think it looks fab against the cream walls.

We have lots of other projects to come so stay tuned and I promise there will be before pictures too!

Thanks for reading 🙂
