Bringing two families together

This weekend has been just perfect. Even though me and Pete have been together for over a year now (yea … we took things slow) a lot of our family members still hadn’t met each other.

Of course the women got to chatter at my baby shower, and our parents met over dinner on fathers day but when it came to aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews etc; it all still seemed pretty separate.

So Saturday we decided to do a BBQ. It ended up being 26 of us, all in our cosy little and slightly cramped cottage. It was the first time we’d hosted more than 4 people so it was quite the party!

It really was such a lovely day. I honestly think that apart from our wedding day, extended members of our families would never meet and that would be a real shame. My aunty got on really well with Petes aunties as did my sister in law. The kiddies ran around together despite the different ages and me and Pete got to sit back and watch two families come together as one 🙂

We’re definitely going to have days like these more often, starting with a house warming at our new home next month!

Pete would probably want me to point out that at the exact time this picture was taken he hit a bee with the plate haha
