Too early to teeth? Teething giveaway!

Jenson is 13 weeks old and he’s been showing signs of teething for about a month now! Whenever I see him dribbling profusely or chewing on his fist I say to myself he’s far too young to be teething just yet but then some babies are born with teeth (ouch!) so I know it’s certainly possible! Up until the last couple of days he hasn’t seemed in discomfort however these past few days he’s been shouting out and crying a lot while rubbing his fist in his mouth so I know they’re now starting to bother him rather than simply being an odd sensation.

I can’t see or feel any teeth yet so we may we a way off them popping through but I know that they could be moving around under his gums for weeks before one shows up. Either way, I want to make sure that I’m keeping Jenson as pain-free as possible now whilst being prepared for when they make an appearance!

Now I’ve been stocked up on teething gel, teething powder, teething toys and rings leftover from Jasper but a couple of things that I never tried with him were amber beads and teething necklaces. Jasper never suffered too badly with his teeth so we got by on the usual essentials but I heard such great things from other mamas about amber and silicone necklaces that I gave them a firm place on my to-buy list with Jenson!

First up – Amber beads

I’ve always thought amber beads were pretty much magic; I never knew the science behind them but there is actually a method to the miracle working madness –  when baby wears them, their body heat triggers the release of a tiny amount of oil that contains succinic acid, a naturally-occurring substance in the body. When the oil is absorbed it has an analgesic effect on swollen, sore gums – et voila; pain free teething!

When it came to finding an amber product I knew to look for dedicated teething company rather than an eBay jobby as I knew I’d be getting what I paid for. I decided to go with Bambeado as they have a great range of sizes and amber types all tested to the highest safety standards. They create necklace, anklets and bracelets all of which have a screw fastening so that little ones can’t undo them and they are all hand knotted between beads so that if in the unlikely event the bracelet or necklace breaks, only one bead would come loose rather than them all.

I opted for an anklet which is a little big for Jenson just now but with a sock on it stays in place all day and night. It’s also nicely hidden from a certain toddler who I would worry would pull at a necklace or visible bracelet out of curiosity! I definitely find Jenson is more settled when he wears it and any time he’s really struggling I often check and I’ve forgotten to put his amber anklet on after changing him!dsc02006 dsc02003

Teething Necklace

I’ve seen many a blogger sharing these on Instagram and always thought they were a fab accessory for a muma of a teething baby. If you don’t know, a teething necklace is a necklace worn by the muma or dada, which is completely safe for bambino to chew on and suck whilst being carried. I’ve been trying this Littler Bub necklace which is made from high quality food grade silicone. It is completely safe for bambino to suck and chew on as it is free from BPA, PVC and phthalates as well as being hypoallergenic, hygienic and resistant to bacteria! Of course it’s not safe to be worn by or left with your baby but whilst you’re carrying them it soothes their little gums while saving your shoulder from becoming a chew toy!

Little Bub do loads of gorgeous designs including these lovely marble effect beads which are totally in style right now- who says teething products can’t be stylish ay?

So far I’m finding both of these products to be really useful; of course it’s hard to see the benefits of the amber anklet as it’s tucked away under his clothes most of the time but he’s settling for longer periods and not waking up crying because of his teeth as much which is fab! The teething necklace you see more instant results; he cries, I pop it on and he chews on it vigorously making him much calmer.

If you’ve been thinking of trying out amber beads and teething necklaces then you’re in luck because I’m giving away both to one of you lovely readers!
