Oh my goodness guys, I cannot believe I’m here at the finish line, not because it’s some incredible accomplishment but well, for me it actually kind of is. I’ve never blogged consecutively for more than a few days let alone an entire month and both times that I tried to daily vlog for a month I failed at around the half way mark; so in terms of my blogging and vlogging career – this is pretty epic!

If you’re wondering why I decided to blog for a month then head over to my initial post here but the general gist of it is that I just wanted to get my mojo back. I’ve been blogging and vlogging for a few years now and vlogging has kind of taken over which don’t get me wrong, I love because I’m so passionate about it, but it’s also meant that my blogging has had to give and I’ve just found it more of a chore than a joy lately.

I hoped that in committing to writing a blog post every day I would fall back in love with writing and be inspired to not only dig deep for inspiring content but also write about our day to day adventures and my typical mum ramblings that always took a backseat to brand work before.

Well as I sit here writing this on the final day of my challenge I can safely say that not only did the challenge work but it benefitted me in a few more ways that I hadn’t even considered!

Firstly, my mojo is back! I have loved writing everyday. Just like in the beginning the words are coming more naturally to me; topics are flying around in my head and writing a post is so much more of a flowing movement rather than the jerky write, delete, save, delete, rewrite saga it had become.

I now want to think of new content to create rather than feeling like I have to post something – anything just so that I don’t look like I’ve quite blogging for good.

My stats also went up, of course I still had peaks and troughs with more and less popular posts but in general the past 30 days have seen more views, searches and user visits than previous months.

Something else that I never even thought about was that my ranking on blogging networks increased. I’m the highest, or lowest depending which way you look at it, that I’ve ever been on the TOTS 100 list and jumped 44 places to number 141 this month. Now that’s only from a few days of daily blogging so June’s ranking will determine if that was a fluke or if if it had anything to do with blogging every day. I also made the number two spot on the Parent Leaderboard Club which so many weeks I never even featured on so that was a really wonderful thing to find out! Now let me just say that I know things like rankings don’t mean anything  in the grand scheme of things. I certainly won’t be continuing daily blogging to beat my score but it definitely was a little confidence boost and something that kept me going on the occasional day where I felt tempted to go to bed sans post.

Well like I said I won’t be continuing to daily blog; as much as I loved it, it was hard work and even though I could have prescheduled in content to make some nights easier I really didn’t want to do that because it would have taken away the point in feeling inspired to write EVERY DAY. Some days, when parenting was particularly hard all I wanted to do was snuggle into bed but I pushed myself to get something on my blog even if it went live just short of midnight and I’m really proud that I pushed myself to achieve this goal.

Thank you so much to those of you who have read along, it’s really meant so much to see that my blog is still of interest and it’s given me such a push to focus on it more.

So what now? Well I’ve decided to commit to posting on the blog 3 times a week; Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. This works well with my vlog schedule of Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and means that each day I’ll work on one piece of content only for the following day and I’ll have Saturday nights off.

Once again thank you so much for sticking with me; as per my new schedule I will see you guys here tomorrow evening and then again on Saturday!

Thanks for reading,

Jess x

Very encouraging, Jessica! I found you on YouTube with your Minimalism series and just fell in love with your style. You have an adorable family and I love watching your videos. I have 1 boy who is 6, and even when he was a baby I was never into “mommy” blogs. But I love your YT channel! I decided to finally check out your blog and found this post. It’s timely for me because I have a blog (and have been blogging for years!) but I fell off that when my son started school this past year. I wanted to get back into it and I’m in the process of changing my niche from organizing/capsule wardrobes to more of a family lifestyle vibe. This post was the motivation I needed to help me get back on that. Thanks lady! Keep doing what you’re doing! xoxo
