Last week myself, Pete, Jasper and Jenson jetted off to the stunning Turks and Caicos for a work trip and oh my goodness was it good to be back breathing in the Caribbean breeze. The last time I stood with my toes in the purest white sand whilst listening to the delicious concoction of lapping waves and reggae music was at my brothers wedding over ten years ago in Barbados so to be back with my family to explore a new island was just glorious!
I will have lots of posts coming all about our stay at the resort and general experience (spoiler alert – it was heavenly) but for now I thought I’d share my choices of swimwear this Summer season in the hope to give you guys a little poolside inspiration! I’m really trying to branch out a little more into the fashion side of life not only for me but to give my channels a bit more variety and I hope you guys like it!
Okay so first in line we have probably my all time favourite swimsuit that I have EVER owned and it is this New Look Embroidered Rose Mesh Swimsuit at a really reasonable price of £24.99 from asos.com. Now I will say that I’m usually a bikini kind of gal over a one piece and until this trip I only ever owned two one pieces in my adult life – one maternity and one non maternity used only for the purpose of taking Jasper to his swimming lessons. I’ve always been really confident with my stomach since having children, my bum not so much but my stomach I never felt conscious of so bikini’s were always my go-to. However, this Summer season I have seen one piece inspo galore across my instagram feed and Pinterest and as soon as I bought a few from ASOS I knew I’d be hooked! Sure my belly will forever be paler than the rest of my body but who cares, there’s a certain sense of class and style around a one piece and they’re just so flattering in my opinion.
This rose print swimsuit was a bit of a daring purchase for me as I thought that the mesh material may look a bit risque but as soon as I tried it on I knew that it was perfect for a family vacation in the Caribbean! The low back allows me to feel less restricted; the high legs elongate my short legs making me feel less dumpy than I had it previous one pieces and the embroidered rose detail gives the swimsuit an air of fun! Not to mention the mesh material is cooling making is surprisingly practical!
Next up another one piece that I thought would be heading straight back to ASOS but after trying it on I surprisingly loved it! It’s the Snake Tie Dye Lace Up Plunge Swimsuit and on paper it’s everything I’d cringe at – pink snake skin print, corset lace up sides and plunge neckline but in the flesh it’s far from garish and in fact pretty fabulous! The material is a little thicker on this one which I would say is it’s only downside as it made me pretty hot although I did wear it on a boat trip to an uninhabited island so it may have been more the part of environmental factors making me a bit sweaty!
The lace up neckline gives the swimsuit a bit of flexibility in terms of top size and coverage so if you’re bigger on the top half than you are on the bottom half then this is the swimsuit for you! It also means that you can show more or less cleavage depending on what you’re comfortable with and with carrying my bambinos around I opted for less – no one wants a nip slip on a family vaycay!
Last but certainly not least, my current go-to bikini. This little Accessorize number has served me well right through from my 8 months pregnant baby moon to Mallorca through 4 family holidays and now on this trip. It still looks as beautiful as the day that I panic bought it at the airport and I just love everything about it! The colour goes beautifully with a tan, the double lined material with waffle overlay hides every lump and bump and the scalloped edging alleviates any digging in of the waistband or love handles/ back rolls that tight string bikinis can cause. It has a detachable strap giving you the option of either a bandeau top or a halter neck and the little bow at the front gives it an added bit of glam!
Well those are the one-pieces and bikinis that saw me through my recent trip to Turks and Caicos and I couldn’t have asked for better swimwear companions! Keep an eye out for my evening outfits that I’ll be sharing with you soon!
