Storksak Sofia Tan Review

Up there with the pushchair, your changing bag is one of the most important purchases you’ll make when you’re expecting. It’s something, along with your new bambini, that you’ll be carrying around on your arm pretty much all day every day.

So of course, you’re going to expect a lot out of it. Sure it’s great to grab a cheap tote bag from Primarni but realistically that’s not going to last. I’d like to introduce you all to the Storksak Sofia; a bag that in my opinion ticks all of the boxes.

Storksak creates their bags based on the formula ‘a place for everything and everything in it’s place’ with the emphasis that a bag should not only do the job but look beautiful too.

The Storksak Sofia Tan highlights this mantra perfectly. Made from soft twisted leather, which is not only super soft to touch but also hard-wearing; it is finished with antique gold hardware giving it a classical vintage feel.

With four large magnetic pockets on the outside, ten inner compartments and a detachable vanity case there really is a place for everything. Not only can you be sure to fit all of your essentials, you can also be sure to find them with ease!

A thermal insulated bottle holder and changing mat makes this the perfect grab and go changing bag. Not only does it save you buying these extra accessories but it also means you have stylish matching ones that are simply made for the bag!

Carry the bag using the two leather handles or shoulder strap which fits perfectly over most sized buggy handles. The shoulder strap is not only detachable but adjustable too so you’ll always find a way to carry your bag in comfort.

The wipe clean inner lining means one less worry when it comes to spilt milk, sticky fingers and crumbs! It is seriously the worst when the inside of your bags gets stained and dirty and ends up smelling pretty awful after a day of mum life so this is a fab feature!

When I look for a changing bag I have a checklist to go through and here is how the Storksak Sofia weighs up:

DurabilityWhat’s the quality like? Is it going to last and stand the test of time and toddlers? The quality is nothing short of luxury. I have no doubt that this bag will last me many a happy mum-life years.

StyleIs it something you want to carry around every day? Will it go with your outfits? I would certainly use this bag daily, I like to wear quite neutral colours – black, white, navy and grey so this tan would work perfectly. I think it transitions well throughout the seasons and even from day to night.

StorageCan it fit all of your necessities, and in an accessible order? Oh yes! With all of those pockets it would certainly fit everything I need. I also love the detachable vanity case as if I’m on a baby date I can quickly unpin this and nip to the bathroom with any essentials I need.

PracticalityIs it waterproof? How about wipe clean? Not too big but not too small? Is the material going to make it heavy before you’ve even packed it? My only downside with the Sofia is that I think the outside may wear easily, not to the point of actual damage but just to have that worn look that leather can have – you know when you scratch your nail along it and it goes a bit paler? We have it with our Chesterfield sofa and I actually quite like that look but it just means it won’t look pristine for as long. Size wise it is perfect but being leather it is heavier to start with than say canvas material bags, but not as heavy as some hard leathers so this isn’t a big deal.

AccessoriesWhat does it include – buggy straps/ changing mat/ bottle warmers? Changing mat, thermo bottler warmer and a vanity case – tick, tick, tick!

PriceOf course the money! I’m well aware you need to spend for quality but I have a limit, I wouldn’t go above and also one I wouldn’t go below – too good to be true springs to mind! The Sofia retails at £250, which is probably the highest I’d go (maybe stretching to £300 if I was in love). Of course the price and quality go hand in hand so I’d say if you have the money, it’s an investment worth going for!

Overall I love the Sofia Tan. It’s exactly what I look for in a changing bag in terms of style and function. I’ve never been into the types of bags that are covered in cupcakes – save that for when the child is old enough to carry it themselves!

If you like the style but aren’t keen on the tan then you can also pick it up in black, taupe and for only £98 black pearl which is made from cool, wipe clean, lightweight nylon.

Storksak do a wonderful range of other bags, we actually have another we’ll be reviewing over the coming weeks now that we’ve really put the Sofia to the test. They also have a gorgeous range of organic bath and skincare products so check those out and stay tuned for our upcoming review!

Thanks for reading,
