Ever since entering the world of motherhood I’ve lusted over the Stokke brand. Their designs are absolutely gorgeous and although I’ve never owned any of their products (crazy right!?) I always recommend them to new mummy friends because their range is what dreams are made of … plus I just have to see someone I know with that Home bed – even if it’s an adult!
Last week I was really kindly invited to Stokke’s shop launch at the back in action store in Marylebone, London. I braved the train with a 7 week old Jenson who was quite frankly a dream and so much easier to travel with than Jasper.
As Stokke’s flagship London store it’s the perfect place to go if you want to see and try out a huge range of their products before you buy them as well as to speak to the experts on hand. Being the flagship store they also have exclusivity to some of the products for example the new Xplory travel system in Cobalt Blue which can only be found there or at Harrods – oh my goodness the colour is just stunning!
Apart from the embarrassing fact that I’d been pronouncing Stokke wrong for all these years; it’s said ‘Stokk-a’ not ‘Stokk-ee’; I also realised that I knew very little about the brands history and just how useful the products really are. I’ve always lusted over their appearance; how beautiful the rounded shape of the Sleepi is and how alternative the Tripp Trapp looks but I never knew these designs had a purpose other than for style.
You see the Sleepi is round because it is scientifically proven that the shape aids better sleep in infants; the Tripp Trapp is based on how well children sit on a set on steps and although people may question the comfort as the seat isn’t very deep; it’s much more comfortable for children as they don’t have the depth to slouch or slide their bottom forward in.
Stokke are also very passionate about how their products grow with the family. They pointed out, which I’d never even thought of before but is so true, that most products for children are designed to be thrown away. Bouncers, highchairs, cots ; they’re all fit for a purpose that once the child outgrows, are seemingly useless.
The Tripp Trapp can be used from birth with the newborn set right through childhood using the baby set, cushion, harness and then eventually nothing. The design has a depth and height adjustable seat and footplates meaning it ensures your child has the most comfortable and ergonomic seating position at any age. It’s designed to keep the family together with little ones being able to sit at the table and can even be used as a desk chair and for adults!
The Stokke Sleepi bed can be extended to go from a cot to a toddler bed and then even into two chairs once your little one no longer sleeps in it! Even the changing table grows with the family converting to a shelving unit and then a desk; you seriously only need to buy one set for life with Stokke!
It was so wonderful to learn all about the products and speak to the team who are a seriously passionate bunch! They all believe so much in Stokke and the benefits of their range to families which is so reassuring as a parent. Another fab part of the event was getting to learn about back in action which was set up in 1988 to help people manage, prevent and treat the symptoms of back pain.
I got to speak with the founder of back in action, David who believes so passionately that our furniture should look after our bodies and allow them to be as natural as intended. He showed me some AMAZING products including a back massager which I could have taken home in my bag if it fit and a chair which I’m seriously thinking about getting as a nursing chair/office chair/ dining room chair … again growing with the family!
There was also a very special guest speaker; Michelle Ogundehin, the Editor in Chief at Elle Decoration *fan girl squeal* who spoke about why she is a Stokke fan through and through; and I mean if the Editor in Chief of Elle Decoration will only go for Stokke in her home it must be pretty amazing right!?

We had such a wonderful day at the Stokke back in action event and I now have a seriously huge wish list to work through! There will also be an exciting collaboration coming up on the blog and Youtube channel soon so do stay tuned to see how we’ll be turing into a Stokke family for life!
Do you own anything Stokke? What would you recommend?
Thanks for reading!
