So it’s been a month. One month since my pregnancy ended and I became a mummy. One month since I put my body through the strains of labour and one month since my body started getting back to normal.
I was really fortunate to have a great recovery; no stitches, limited aches and pains and very low blood loss. Apart from being a bit tired I feel back to normal in myself and here’s how my body has recovered postpartum.
Belly – After two days my belly was pretty much flat and now one month on I can safely say it’s flatter than it was before I was pregnant!
I can only put that down to the fact that before I was pregnant I was living a Dubai lifestyle. I was going to the gym and eating well but that was complimented by brunches and boat parties (all you can eat and drink). I never really had a belly but there was definitely a bit of podge there.
I still have the linea nigra on my stomach and the skin is quite stretchy so I need to apply some firming butter and do some tong exercises.
Weight – During pregnancy I lost my appetite a lot, especially in the first few months being in the heat of Dubai so I didn’t gain any extra weight.
Since having Rabbit, again my appetite hasn’t been great. There have been days where at 5pm I’ve realised that I’ve had nothing but a crumpet and some chocolates all day. I know this is terrible and not great for me or Rabbit but what with trying to keep on top of everything and not having an appetite it’s really easy to forget to eat.
Boobs – Breastfeeding I think really helped to make my stomach go down so quickly as I could really feel it contracted in the early days, however my boobs are now saggy. They were always very perky before due to my boob job so this is a bit of a pain.
Stretch marks – The only stretch marks I had during pregnancy were around where my belly button was pierced. These have now gone but I have faint ones appearing on my boobs. I’m going to start using stretch mark cream on these as well as bio oil.
Back – I’ve always had back problems since I was younger. During pregnancy I’d get aches and now since giving birth it has been quite achy too. I think this is due to bad posture, I slouch over when I breastfeed so I need to remember to make myself comfortable as well as Rabbit.
Bum – I’ve lost my bum!! Before I was pregnant I used to squat and lunge religiously and I managed to build up quite the booty. Now however it’s quite frankly as flat as a pancake so I need to work on this!
Now that I’m a month on and feeling a bit more with it I’m going to focus on a healthier lifestyle. I’m going to make sure to drink a lot more fluids, eat much healthier and do some exercise. I’m thinking yoga and then maybe the squat and plank challenges where you start day one with say 10 squats and increase the quantity everyday until by day 30 you’re doing 200 squats in a go! This is ambitious I know so we’ll see how it goes!
How did you yummy mummies find recovery after labour? Any tips for getting back to your normal self?
Thanks for reading 🙂 xx

14th May 2014 at 1:40 pmWell you don’t look like you just had a baby thats for sure!!!
I was slightly different as after having a csection couldn’t really exercise so I lost initial weight but then still had a bit of a “mummy tummy”. Now 9months later I’m smaller than I was before I was pregnant! Eating is hard with a new baby I used to go days without eating and even now where I’m so busy I often don’t eat until dinner; not a good thing though! I have started the squat challenge about 4 times and always get bored by like day 10! xxx

It’s hard isn’t it, I just don’t feel hungry. I’m not one to starve myself at all, I lvd my food so it’s strange, especially as I’m burring so many calories from breast-feeding too. Haha I’m not holding out much hope that I’ll even make it a week with these challenges!

15th May 2014 at 7:28 pmI think you look amazing for having a baby only a month ago! My stomach went back to normal about a week after but I had only put on 11lbs during pregnancy, and half of that was my son!
However due to silly contraception, I am now bigger than what I was pregnant lol!
Also need to work on my bum as well

16th May 2014 at 8:03 amWow you don’t even look like you’ve had a baby you lucky lady. Please don’t feel pressure though, I know we all do after babies but you did good making a beautiful baby and your body changes pregnant so things take time to return to normal. I had 2 sections and both times it took me at least a year to get near to my pre-baby body. Thanks for linking up to #brilliantblogposts. Please add my badge or link back. Thanks

16th May 2014 at 10:34 pmI notice that when my body just got back to its normal shape. I was actually eating more cuz of breastfeeding and yet my body is slim all the way after 2 years. But I am now slowly gaining weight. Since I stopped breastfeeding. #brillaintblogposts
