As you all know I love to talk about my little Rabbit’s nursery. Decorating it has been my favourite project throughout my pregnancy and I’ve loved being able to do it all myself with my many DIY handmade projects.
The nursery is so very nearly complete but there is still one thing that it is lacking. Even though I have a wardrobe and changing station I still feel as though it has limited storage space.
Rhys’s bedroom also needs to be finished and I’m going for a jungle theme for his. Apart from their windowsills their rooms don’t have any surfaces and aside from the floor there really isn’t anywhere to put things like toys, books and games.
So, while on the hunt for storage solutions I discovered a gorgeous range of children’s wooden furniture by Pitter Patter Furniture.
What’s perfect for a lover of all things unique like me is that not only is every item from their collection handcrafted but each item can be personalised! This means that the boys can have one of a kind pieces in their rooms that are not only practical and handy but stylish and individual too!
Initially I started out looking for shelves as since Rabbit’s baby shower he’s accumulated a lot of soft toys that are too beautiful to be shoved into a box. Him and Rhys also have a couple of nice picture frames, their grow egg’s and their monitors that for safety reasons with the wires need to be out of reach from their teeny tiny fingers!
Here’s an example of the personalised shelves that I think would be perfect. You get to choose from a variety of widths – 640-940 mm’s; and you can also choose the decorations e.g. trains, cars, teddy bears and more!
I think I’ll go for 940 mm’s as I have a lot to display, or maybe two of the 640 mm widths in each room? Hmm decisions, decisions!
For Rhys’s room I’d go for blue writing like in the picture above but for Rabbit’s nursery, where the theme is woodland maybe I’d be better off going for a plain white or cream shelf like this one:
The shelves have smoothed edges so no risk of any little head bumps and according to the site they don’t come flat packed so they’re nice and sturdy and ready to use.
The other item that I’ve been looking to get for both of the boys is a large storage box each to keep all of their toys and books in.
In our lounge we have a standard plastic one that is a tad bit unattractive and plain until I chuck a throw over it, but I’d like something stylish that I don’t need to cover! I also want something durable as I’m sure the boys will be climbing over them and getting lots of use out of them rummaging for their toys!
Pitter Patter Furniture makes these fab toy boxes that as with the shelves can also be personalised! They have a ‘Design an Toybox’ application which allows you to customise the colour, text, size and decoration yourself – what a fab way to know what it’ll look like before you order it!
Here’s my design for Rabbit’s toy box so far:
I’ve kept the colours neutral. The options are white, cream, blue and pink; and where my them is mainly browns and greens I think cream is most fitting!
As Rhys will be having a jungle room here’s a design I’d love for him:
The character letters are really cute and fit so perfectly with the jungle theme!
There are loads of other personalised pieces of wooden furniture in the range including headboards, corner shelves, chairs, bookshelves and name plaques.
Hopefully in our next house we’ll be able to have a playroom for the boys to get creative in. I’d love to be able to get a table for them to do colouring on and have their own little personalised chairs to sit on. They could also have their own shelves and coat hooks as well as a bookcase … ooh it’ll be like a little schoolroom! Haha I could either be the coolest or uncoolest muma around!
I’m so excited to finish off their rooms and start planning their playroom that doesn’t even exist yet – simple pleasures of a muma to be 🙂
If you’re looking to make your little ones room a bit more unique and special why not check out these handcrafted piece, they really are so stunningly crafted and beautiful 🙂
