My homemade and personal Mothers day

Mothers day for our family has always been about quality time and making muma feel special. We’ve never made a big celebration out of it, sometimes we’ll all go for lunch or have a takeaway but normally it’s just about the flowers, the cards and the quality time together.

Mum has 3 children including myself so she’s always gotten a few lovely gifts to receive . This year feels a little bit different for me though. It’s the first year that I’ve really experienced being a mother figure to Rhys and experienced carrying my own baby, something that’s really made me appreciate my mum in a whole different way!

I decided that instead of the usual flowers that I normally get (nothing wrong with this at all but I want to change it up this year), I’d go for a mixture of different homemade and personal gifts. I was also lucky enough to be given the opportunity to choose and review a couple of items so have included those in there too:

Something to wear

It’s always lovely to get snuggly and to have something cosy to put on. I always find my mum and dads house to be really cold, they disagree but I thought it would be nice to choose something snuggly for mum to wear.

These luxury Alpaca socks from Perilla are perfect for warming up on a chilly Spring evening or for keeping cool on those warmer sunny days we’ve been blessed with lately!

Something made with love

I’m a lover of all things homemade. I really enjoy creating something myself and knowing that the gift I’m giving is unique and personal. The decoupage ‘home’ letters were really fun to make and will add a bit of loveliness to my moths day package. The colours will go perfectly in my mums kitchen or lounge, or even the bathroom actually.  I added the little lock and key for an added individual touch.

Something to pamper

For Christmas and her birthday I made my mum some Pumpkin pie hand scrub. Now theres not actually any pumpkin in it but the cinnamon and lemon make a lovely cake scent. It’s so easy to make, lasts forever and looks really nice next to the sink. My mum uses it on her hands but it can be used all over the body and would be lush as a foot scrub too!

  • Oats
  • Brown sugar
  • Oil
  • Cinnamon
  • Lemon juice

Something personal

Sticking with the unique theme, it’s always lovely to have something with your name on it. This black typography candle from ‘Your Design’ is a really lovely way to include your mums name with some of their favourite things, places and people. I added Grandma, Muma, Happiness, Cards, Family, Smiles, Family and a few more!

It’s also a fab pampering treat and excuse for a bath and bit of relaxation!

And here we have one happy muma … 2-64

She really loved the personal touches especially the ‘home’ letters (I knew they’d be her favourite!photo 1-60

We spent mothers day at my brother and sister in laws house having a lovely bbq in the sunshine. It was my brothers birthday too so we celebrated both occasions in one. Mum got to be around all of her kiddies plus my niece and nephew which I know is the only present she’d want to have anyway 🙂

How did you all spend your mothers day?

Thanks for reading! xx

The pumpkin scrub looks and sounds amazing! We went to the coast, my boys bought me a scarf and I had dinner cooked for me. Very lucky.

The whole mothers day box was amazing. The handmade scrub has just the right amount of oil and exfolliation to make my skin silky smooth. The H O M E letters look great on my windowsill in the kitchen, so I can see them all the time and the personalised candle is lovely (although too nice to burn). All in all a lovely gift. x.
