I’m ashamed to say that I didn’t make my own wrapping paper this year. Normally I buy brown paper to go with the ‘brown paper packages tied up with string’ theme, and do some kind of printing to make it look a little bit unique; but this year I was in the 99p store, the paper was there (4 pack) and I was feeling lazy so I bought it. Shame on me I know but all wasn’t lost when I settled down to watch ‘Kirstie Allsopp’s Homemade Christmas ‘. She gave me the kick up the butt that I needed to add on my own personal touches to my already store bought wrapping paper wrapped presents!
Kirstie’s version was intended for balloon strings but I thought it would be lovely to use them for present wrapping. I used red Christmassy ribbon and simply glued on some paper shapes and bows made out of different coloured string. I made sure to stick the decorations on both sides of the ribbon as I knew the ribbon would twist around when I placed it around the presents!
I’m really annoyed that I didn’t get any pictures of the ribbon on the presents before they got ripped off in hunt of the presents, but I’d like to think that they added a unique twist to the presents and made me feel a little better abut not making my own wrapping paper!
Thanks for the inspiration Kirstie Allsopp!
