Living in my lovely little cottage I’ve become a tad obsessed with shabby chic. I mean it would be crazy to fill such a quaint little home made of such character with chrome and leather right!?
As a lover of DIY I’ve tried to upcycle and hand make as much of my homely bits as possible and here’s a couple of my latest creations:
Upcycled frames
I used simple £1 plastic frames from Tesco that were pretty hideous to start with and painted them with Annie Sloan chalk paint (which I’m a tad obsessed with).
Rhys got busy crafting away too!
Excuse the shoddy job; I didn’t bother with being neat … neats no fun! Especially when you’re going to be covering the frame anyway!
The paint dries almost instantly, especially in the sun so this part took no time at all!
I then stuck on some cute pearl stickers and paper flowers from Hobbycraft.
This part was a little more time consuming as I had to stick on each pearl individually but they were easy to apply and move around on the frame. The pearls were sticky backed so they simply had to be peeled off the paper and positioned on the frame.
The flowers needed to be glued on so I just used plain old PVA. They came in a bunch so I just separated them and twisted them around to make a lovely floral detailing around the frame!
Et voila!
To make these cost nest to nothing! The bits and bobs from Hobbycraft were less than £5 together and the frames only £1 each. The only pricey part was the Annie Sloan paint but I barely used a spoonful and I’ve made lots of use out of that on other homely projects around the home!
Thanks for reading 🙂
