There’s something so magical about a wooden toy. I don’t know what it is; maybe the fact that it’s what my parents and grandparents would have played with when they were younger. The vision of a plastic- free toy box and an array of quality, simple wooden toys so many years ago.
They’re traditional and sturdy; timeless even; and they’re the kind of toys that you want to keep for your children, and theirs to come.
I’d like to think that we’ve built up a lovely collection of wooden toys; some hand me downs, some bought and others sent to us to review. These First Picture Blocks from Bigjigs toys are the most recent of those sent to us and Jaspy is a big fan!
The wooden blocks are the perfect size for his mini hands to grasp (excuse the swearing, he doesn’t mean it haha).
Jaspy loves the bright colours and enjoys pushing them around the floor and biting at them!
The blocks have numbers, the same number of dots and different images on them. Of course the orange block with a rabbit on is Jaspy’s fave!
The colour co-ordinated tray is perfect for when Jaspy is older and for Rhys now to teach them colours, matching and puzzle style motor skills.
We got some lovely wooden toys for Christmas which you’ll no doubt see over on our Instagram account over the upcoming weeks.
Do you prefer wooden or plastic toys?
