With Jasper I never really got into baby wearing. I think it was because I was so in love with my pushchair that I just wanted to show it off all of the time and having only him during the week I could work cleaning and cooking around his schedule. Now though, with a baby and a toddler it’s so much easier for me to be able to run around after Jasper, cook and clean and generally be hands-free; and that is where baby wearing comes in so handy!
We were really kindly sent a selection of baby wearing products from award winning parenting brand we made me who’s ideology is based around ancient traditions of families being one as a tribe. Their products are inspired by the Native American Indian Hopi tribe who are also known as the ‘peaceful people’. The tribe is traditionally matrilineal, with the women of the tribe determining inheritance and social status – girl power at its best!
They’ve created three fab designed to make wearing your baby not only safe but comfortable and stylish too! The first that we were sent to review is the Wuti Wrap; a stretchy baby wrap made from durable and breathable fabric. It is designed with the first nine months in mind as it offers your little one the comfort and security they felt in the womb, making that transition from womb to wearer as gentle as possible. It can of course be used past nine months but that time period is the most influential for limiting babies feelings of separation after birth.
Jenson loves being in this wrap because he’s as close to me as humanly possible; and I love feeling that closeness while still being able to make a cup of tea or hold Jaspers hand and play. We use it a lot when I take Jasper to baby gym and also for pottering around the house as it’s comfortable for both of us when sitting or standing.
The Wuti Wrap can be used from 0-24 months and 3.6–15.9kg which is 8–35lbs and it retails at £49.99.
Another one of we made me‘s fab baby wearing products is the Pao Carrier. This is designed for babies from four months onwards and 12-33lbs (5.5-15kg) in weight; and even though Jenson is only two months old, he’s already a 12 pounder and supports his head really well so we have tried him in this a few times. For us this is my go-to for outdoor walks as it is more structured than the wrap. It has adjusters and extensions to make it super secure and I feel safest using this one if we’re out and about. I even braved the London underground with it so it’s definitely a winner! It’s a 3-in-1 carrier so offers a parent facing front position, world facing front position and also a back position making it extremely versatile and something I know we’ll get a lot of use out of!
At the moment we are only using the parent facing front position as pictured below but when Jenson is a few months older we’ll switch him round to world facing for when he’s awake and alert and wanting to have a good nosey at where we are. Of course I’ll still have him facing me when he’s sleepy as it’s lovely to have those snuggles and that sense of security for the both of us. When he’s a little older we’ll also try out the back position which I’m sure Pete will love wearing him using too!
The Pao Carrier retails at £89.99 which I think is fab for such a versatile product that we’ll be sure to get a lot of use out of!
Both the wrap and the carrier come in three different colours; lavender, pebble or what I went for in both – black as I thought it would go best with most outfits … that’s a valid reason right!?
The final baby wearing product we were sent to try is the Soohu Sling. As with the Wuti Wrap it is designed to be used from birth up to 24 months carrying your little one from 8-35lbs (3.6-15.9kg). It’s probably the easiest to put on and pop your baby into and is super comfortable to wear around the house as well as out and about.
It’s made from 100% organic cotton which is a massive winner and what we also love is that among the five (yes five!) optional positions, two of them are discreet breastfeeding positions; which for a mama whose baby bear is constantly attached to her boob – is perfect! What I love about this one is that is safely provides the most natural carrying position which is the cradle-carry. Jenson loves being held in a cradle so to be able to achieve this hands-free is simply a godsend!
The Soohu Sling retails at £49.99 which is amazing for a 5-in-1 carrier; and is available in a variety of stylish shades!
All three of the baby wearing products were super easy to figure out how to use; I had worn a wrap before so had an idea of how to put it on but the instructions for all of them were really simple with step by step illustrations showing you not only how to put them on but also which positions are right and wrong. They’ve definitely made my baby wearing journey so smooth and I love that we made me have got us parents covered from birth and beyond!
The products all come in really unique tubes which can then be used to either store the products between uses or like I’ve done, to store keepsakes and toiletries!
