Baby milestones – Jaspy is on Solids

We’ve been reaching a new baby milestone with Raspy recently and that is his weaning journey. To be honest it’s been a bit of a flop. I think I got a bit over-excited and thought that Jaspy would be too but in reality he just wasn’t fussed. IMG_2861

I didn’t read any books. I didn’t research online (very unlike me I know!). I didn’t even ask any other mums. I must have been having a moment of madness haha

All I knew was he’d need something quite bland and smooth. I later read in my Gina Ford book about giving the first solids at night time and giving something high in protein, which I will take into account as of now … I promise!

So we started with a banana on the 14th August. I was eating one and let him suck on a tiny piece. His face scrunched up but he reached for it again … a good start, until I gave it to him a second time and he was completely uninterested.

I then found some farley’s rusks in my cupboard from Rhys and decided to mix one of them with his formula milk. The same happened again, he liked it the first time around and then the second time – not fussed!

This then happened with an Ella’s Kitchen ‘The red one’, Heinz breakfast fruity porridge and Bebevita fruity breakfast porridge.

The Bebevita porridge did prove to be a bit more of a winner which he has after his morning bottle but with moving house and Jaspy teething, our whole routine has just gone out of the window.

So from now on I’m going to do it properly. I’m going to get a book (recommendations welcome) and make sure that what I’m giving him is the best, and in the best way!

Here are some snaps I just love!IMG_2873 IMG_2879IMG_2857IMG_2867 IMG_2887

My little one can seem to like something one day and not the next too – just persevere, he’ll get there in the end! The book I love is called DK Feeding your baby day by day. I also have the Annabel Karmel baby and toddler meal planner, but I always find myself going back to the DK one x

Ooh I’ll look up the DK one. We have lots of Annabel Karmel equipment so I was thinking of going with her book but maybe I’ll check this other one out. Thank you lovely 🙂

Ahhh, these photos are gorgeous!! He’s so scrummy.

We’ve ‘kinda’ started weaning – just a few tastes here and there, J’s not overly bothered either way at the mo. Once she hits 6 months (in 2 weeks *sob*) we’ll make a proper go of things. Do you know if you want to go down the puree route or BLW?

PS. So lovely to have you back blogging. No internet sucks, eh?!

Jenna I don’t even know what BLW is, is sounds like some kind of 80’s pop group haha
Ok I’ve googled it and baby led weaning, is that where you put the food infront of them and just let them go for it? I’m soo confusedddddd!

Thank you 🙂 I’m so glad to be back 🙂
