As parents I think we can all relate to the struggle that is getting fruits and veggies into our little ones diets. My two boys do love eating fruit but when it comes to them having a good variety of it and enough veggies it can be a bit hit or miss, so smoothies have become our morning go-to!

They’re so quick and easy to make, can be really inexpensive and are a great way to ensure your kiddies are getting in a good amount of fruits and veggies to start their day. Of course you can do these throughout the day but I find starting the morning with them means I personally feel less pressure to make sure they’re getting enough for the rest of the day because I have that peace of mind that they’ve already got some in their systems!

I thought I’d share our top go-to smoothies which are all Superhero inspired to make them a little bit more fun and exciting to drink! They all include bananas which are a fantastic source of vitamin C, potassium and will give your little ones lots of energy plus either soya or oat milk as cows milk gives myself migraines and flares up my children eczema. You can of course use whatever milk you wish though 🙂

First up is the Hulk Smoothie

One banana (any size)
One handful of spinach (washed)
Oat Milk – You can use any amount depending on the consistency desired and I find the more I use the easier it is for the boys to drink it all up!

Captain America Smoothie

One banana (any size)
Soya Milk – (amount depends on consistency desired)
One handful of blueberries
One handful of pineapple chunks (mango goes amazingly too!)
1/2 tsp blue spirulina

The blue spirulina is what makes the smoothie so blue – it’s packed with  protein, vitamins, minerals, carotenoids and antioxidants and has amazing health benefits including improving digestion, boosting energy and removing toxins and heavy metals from the body!

It is a little costly at £20 a packet but a little goes a long way and you only need 1/2 tsp to give your smoothie this fab blue colour! Of course the more you add the bluer the colour but if I’m honest the smell and taste isn’t my cup of tea so any more may alter the yumminess of the smoothie itself!

Spider-Man Smoothie

One banana (any size)
Soya Milk (amount depends on consistency desired)
Handful of raspberries and strawberries

For added colour you could add some beetroot, I didn’t for this batch as I accidentally picked up the type that is soaked in vinegar!

To make them even more fun you could get some cool superhero straws like these or insist your little one must dress up as the matching superhero to drink it (Warning – this may make school morning rush slightly more hectic – haha!)

If you give these a go please do let me know how you get on in the comments and of course add your favourite smoothies too – I’d love some more yummy ones to try!
